Dedication Beyond Measure: Embracing Hard Work on the Path to Excellence

Download Program Information Sheet Here

Dear parents and aspiring young athletes,

At Gotham City Hoops, we believe in the transformative power of youth sports. We know that greatness isn't achieved overnight, nor is it measured by time and money alone. Instead, it's a commitment that involves the entire family, unwavering dedication, and the right attitude. We're embarking on a journey to discover and nurture the next generation of basketball stars, and we invite you to join us.

Seeking 20 Boys and 20 Girls, Ages 5-8, for an Elite Basketball Experience:

We are actively searching for 20 boys and 20 girls between the ages of 5 and 8 who are ready to commit to an elite basketball experience. This commitment to basketball will still allow time for other sports or activities. Our goal is to instill values, foster resilience, and build character through this focused basketball program.

The Commitment Takes a Village:

When we talk about the commitment required, we're not just referring to the young athletes. It's a commitment that involves the entire family. Parents, siblings, and guardians play a crucial role in supporting and encouraging the aspiring basketball stars.

Time Commitment:

Greatness doesn't come easy, and it demands time. Practices are scheduled three days a week, with sessions lasting between 90 to 120 minutes. This commitment accumulates to up to 20 hours a month. It's a significant investment, but one that promises to yield invaluable returns.

Financial Commitment:

We understand that pursuing excellence in sports comes with financial obligations. From equipment to training fees, there will be costs associated with the journey. However, we believe that the value of the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the skills acquired far outweigh the financial investment.

The Right Attitude:

Perhaps the most crucial aspect of the commitment is the attitude we bring to the court. Success in basketball, and in life, is achieved through hard work, determination, and a positive outlook. We instill a growth mindset that encourages learning from setbacks and continuously striving for improvement.

The Road to Greatness:

The path to greatness in basketball, or any endeavor, is paved with challenges. It requires sacrifices, discipline, and a willingness to push beyond one's comfort zone. It means early morning practices, late-night games, and weekends spent honing skills. It means embracing both victories and defeats as opportunities for growth.

The Role of the Family:

Parents and guardians, you are the pillars of support on this journey. Your role goes beyond chauffeuring your child to practice. It involves being a source of encouragement, teaching the values of commitment and perseverance, and being a positive role model. Your involvement can make all the difference.

The Gotham City Hoops Difference:

What sets Gotham City Hoops apart is our unwavering commitment to nurturing not just exceptional athletes, but outstanding individuals. We focus on character development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our coaches, led by Coach Winn, are not just trainers; they are mentors who believe in the potential of every child.

Conclusion:

Greatness is not a destination; it's a journey. It's a commitment that involves the entire family, demands time and financial resources, and hinges on the right attitude. At Gotham City Hoops, we are not just creating basketball players; we are shaping young minds, building character, and instilling values that will last a lifetime.

So, to the parents and young athletes out there, if you're ready to embark on this journey, if you're willing to commit to the path of greatness, then join us at Gotham City Hoops. Together, we will discover the stars of tomorrow and nurture them into the champions of today. Success awaits those who are willing to work for it, and we're here to guide you every step of the way.

Gotham City Hoops: Where Fun Meets the Path to Greatness

At Gotham City Hoops, we believe in the power of basketball not just as a sport but as a journey to greatness filled with joy, learning, and camaraderie. Our program is designed for young athletes to thrive in an environment where every dribble, every shot, and every pass is a step towards becoming their best selves. While focusing on fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, and teamwork, we also emphasize resilience, sportsmanship, and the importance of hard work. Our coed program welcomes all young players, offering them a platform to shine, grow, and most importantly, have fun. Here, the goal isn't just to win games, but to nurture a love for the game, foster lifelong friendships, and build a community where every child feels like a superhero on their path to greatness.

Why do people believe in us?  Because we are Elite Professionals!

Ray Johnson

Hall of Fame Coach

El Camino High School

"Coach Winn is a master teacher and has been for decades. People look at the championships and the success he had at the Bishop’s School, but what people didn’t see was the ability to teach the game better than anyone I know. He has the knowledge, love of the game, and the patience to elevate kids under his direction. I was blessed to have him early in his career helping at El Camino, but I knew that he was going to build a monster wherever he chose to plant roots. He is what is good about youth basketball."

Agnus Bernato

Hall of Fame Coach

NCAA Women's Basketball

"Fentriss is that sunshine on a cloudy day. It's seldom that you meet people through recruiting in our business that you stop and say he really gets it. He trusted me with his daughter at Georgia Tech and then at the University of Pittsburgh, but we often shared conversations that touched on the game, the kids, and our responsibility to lead and mentor. I highly recommend anyone who has a kid and the opportunity to be coached by Fentriss. He is a friend, but a true winner."

Nick Booker

Head Men's Coach

Cal State San Marco

"I have known Coach Winn most of my life. He started coaching me when I was 9 years old and coached me until I went to college with a basketball scholarship to Davidson University in North Carolina. Coach Winn has been an instrumental coach in helping hundreds of kids reach their potential. He has become more than a coach and is considered a family member and mentor. Obviously, I’m biased, and I believe he is among the top coaches for young people in the game of basketball in the country. He teaches basketball for the long game, not just buckets, but life lessons. For short- and long-term success in basketball and life, Coach Winn will be a valuable resource."

Tony Lipold

Former Athletic Director

Saddleback Community College

"Fentriss is a winner. He made Saddleback College Women's program among the best in the state over his 20-year career. I was fortunate to meet and coach him when he was 15 years old. He was the starting point guard on my varsity coaching job. He has always been a leader and was the captain of the varsity for a good reason. The guys respected and followed his lead. Everyone knows about the boatload of Section championships he has won and a state championship, but what still fascinates me about him is his ability to connect with young kids and have them buy into working hard and seeking their best outcome. He is what a coach should be."

Michael Brunker

Rotary Club San Diego

AKA Mr. San Diego

"Fentriss is a leader of young people. He was instrumental for a long time in helping build AAU basketball in San Diego. He understood the responsibility of coaching young people. He is an outstanding coach and person. I consider him among the best coaches in youth sports, and his work at the Bishop’s School while there was unmatched, and at times legendary. He coached both my daughters, and my youngest, for quite some time. Being a former Division One basketball coach, I would allow him to coach and mentor my kids, but he is among the best, and my kids grew a great deal."

Britnnee (BB) Yasukochi

Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

University of California San Diego

"I had the privilege of playing for Coach Winn since the age of 8 years old, and over a 10-year period, he made a major impact on my basketball and growth as a young woman and athlete. He understood what it took to build us up and support us on and off the court. He always saw basketball as a platform to learn so many life lessons while truly enjoying the game. He never took the fun out of the game but taught us how to put the work in and enjoy the game at the highest level. Kids are lucky if they get the chance to be coached by him. Thousands of kids still talk about his impact, and he is still going strong."
